How to do EFT Tapping for Self Worth

If you’ve been practicing EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) tapping for a while, you already know how powerful it is. For me, EFT has literally changed my life.

And if you’re looking to improve your self-worth using EFT, in this post I’ll share the exact tips, tricks, and methods I used on myself.

When I was younger like 10-11, I had zero self-worth. I believed whatever anyone told me, because I assumed the world was kind, that people were always nice, and that nothing could go wrong. Sadly, I was almost the same even at 23 but soon after I started EFT and that slowly changed me.

I was never taught what were boundaries and had no sense of right or wrong, and no understanding of how to protect myself.

Fast-forward five years of consistent EFT tapping, and I am a completely different person. Not only did I rebuild my self-worth, but I now even offer this as a service to help others who might be struggling the same way I was.

At 25, I was terrified that I would never “make it” in life, I thought I’d fail, never be successful, never have a happy married life, and honestly, I was broken inside.

The only way I came out of that dark phase was through EFT tapping. I used it to release the constant negative self-talk, work on painful past events, and rebuild the confidence I thought I had lost forever.

What is Self-Worth?

Self-worth is simply believing that you deserve love, happiness, and good things in life.

The tricky part is, self-worth is largely built during childhood. If you grew up with toxic, neglectful, or abusive parents, your sense of self-worth can be completely shattered.

You start believing that bad things are “supposed” to happen to you. Without realizing it, you attract negativity, because your energy and mindset are stuck in that cycle.

This is exactly where EFT tapping helped me. It broke that cycle. It helped me truly believe that I deserve safety, love, success, and all the good things life has to offer.

And yes, you do need to work for your goals, but simply working hard isn’t enough. You also need to believe that you’re worthy of the results you’re working toward.

That’s why self-worth is so powerful: it influences how successful, happy, and fulfilled you feel in life.

I had depression, anxiety and so many more issues including very mild OCD.

How EFT Tapping Works for Self-Worth

The way I used EFT tapping to rebuild my self-worth was simple but life-changing. I went back to past events in my life , many, many painful ones and identified the ones that had damaged my self-worth.

For me, there were at least 15–20 such events. I wrote them down, one by one. Then, I picked one event at a time and worked through it using EFT.

Here’s what the process looked like:

  1. Identify the event – Write it down clearly.
  2. Note the emotions – What did you feel in that moment? Shame, fear, anger, rejection?
  3. Rate the intensity – On a scale of 1–10, how strongly do you feel the emotion now?
  4. Do EFT tapping – Focus on the event while tapping, until the intensity drops.
  5. Repeat – Keep working until the intensity is down to a “0–3” range.

Then, I moved on to the next event. Over time, the intensity of those old memories lost their grip on me. They no longer defined me.

You might think working through 10–15 events will take forever, but it doesn’t. You’ll notice small improvements almost immediately, and that progress motivates you to keep going.

Why I Don’t Recommend EFT Scripts

I know there are hundreds of EFT tapping scripts out there, but I personally don’t recommend using them for deep self-worth work.

Scripts are too generic, they might work for some people, but in most cases, they don’t address the root issue. You can still give them a try but I would say do not expect miracles out of those tapping scripts.

At best, you’ll get temporary relief. At worst, your symptoms will come back, and you’ll feel like you’re stuck again.

Instead, I suggest you do the real work: write down your own past events, disintegrate the emotions attached to them, and use EFT directly on those memories. That’s when you’ll see lasting, life-changing results.

Tips to Make EFT More Effective

  1. Practice daily – Set aside at least 1–2 hours a day. In the beginning, it may feel slow, but over time you’ll actually start looking forward to it.
  2. Do it at night or preferred time of the day and make it a habit – I often practiced before bed. I would work on one event as much as it was possible, release all the emotions, and then sleep peacefully.
  3. Be patient – At first, EFT may feel repetitive and there is a possiblity that there is a lot of whiplash from digging into emotions, but trust the process. After a few weeks, you’ll notice how much lighter and more confident you feel.

Final Thoughts

EFT tapping has completely transformed my self-worth and my life. From a scared, broken 24-year-old with no confidence, I have grown into someone who truly values herself, and now helps others do the same.

Self-worth is not built overnight. It’s a step-by-step process, and EFT can guide you through it. If you stay consistent and give yourself time, you will see progress.

And if you ever feel stuck, don’t hesitate to reach out and hire an experienced EFT pracitioner. Sometimes, having guidance makes all the difference. I now offer EFT sessions for self-worth, and I’d be happy to help you on your journey.

Remember you deserve love, happiness, and success. EFT is simply the tool that helps you finally believe it.
