What Happens in an EFT Tapping Session with a Coach/Practitioner? (Step-by-Step)
I get asked this question all the time: “What actually happens in a session with you?”
For many people, EFT feels mysterious, they’ve maybe seen videos of people tapping on their face or body, but they can’t imagine what really goes on during a one-to-one session.
If you are wondering if you need an eft tapping coach then this post is for you. Let me break it down step by step from my own process, so you know exactly what to expect.
1. The Intake Form: Setting the Foundation
The very first step before the session is filling up a detailed intake form. This isn’t just a formality, it’s actually one of the most important parts of the process.
In this form, I ask about your past experiences, your current challenges, and the issue you want to work on. It needs to be as detailed as possible.
If you rush through it or keep things vague, then I’ll have to ask you the same questions again during the session, which wastes valuable time we could spend working on the actual problem.

The form is your opportunity to share everything you feel I should know your personal history, the way the issue affects your day-to-day life, and specific memories or events you feel are important. The more you put down, the better I can prepare.
And if you feel like you forgot something or couldn’t express it all in the form? That’s fine. You can always send me an email with extra details. But the main idea is: by the time we meet, I already know exactly what you’re here for, and we can dive right in.
2. Payment and Setup
Once you’ve filled out the form, you make the payment and I send you the session link.
I currently work only online, either through Zoom or Google Meet, because it makes things more flexible for both me and my clients. No commuting, no stress. You just need a quiet space and an internet connection.
I don’t plan to take clients in person at my office anytime soon. The beauty of EFT is that it works perfectly well online.
3. Beginning the Session
When you log into the call, we start slow. I usually explain how the session will flow, answer any lingering questions, and make sure you’re comfortable.
A lot of people feel nervous in their first session, that’s completely normal. I always remind them that this is a safe, judgment-free space.
Confidentiality is absolute. Whatever you share stays with me. I take that very seriously because the truth is, some of the things people bring to EFT sessions are deeply personal.

4. Working on Events
Here’s where we begin the real process. EFT is not vague, general talk, it’s specific. We work on events tied to the issue you came in with.
If you already have a list of events ready, perfect. If not, I help you identify which event we should start with. Either way works. The important part is that we take one event at a time.
We’ll tap while recalling the memory, bringing up the emotion, and releasing the charge around it. It may feel strange at first, remembering something painful while tapping, but as we go, you’ll notice the intensity shift.
When we heal an event completely, you feel relief. Some people feel it instantly in their body. Others feel lighter, calmer, or more at peace in their mind. And often, when one event heals, you’ll notice improvements in other areas of life too.

5. The First Session Experience
Most clients notice a massive improvement after just one session. That said, EFT is a process, not a one-time fix. Each person is different, and each issue has layers. Sometimes the first layer clears and you already feel transformed. Other times, it takes a few sessions to get to the root.
But in my experience, EFT delivers amazing results. It works faster and more deeply than most people expect, especially if you come in with an open mind and a willingness to go there.
6. Whiplash and Triggers After the Session
Let me be very honest: sometimes after a session, you don’t just feel lighter, you may also feel a little wobbly. This is what I call emotional whiplash. When you’ve released a deep memory, your system may take some time to recalibrate.
You might feel extra emotional, tired, or even unsettled. That doesn’t mean EFT “didn’t work.” In fact, it means the process is unfolding.
If your trauma is very heavy, I recommend booking two sessions in the same week. That way, you don’t stay stuck in the spiral, you get quicker relief. This is why I also offer packages of three sessions, because for clients who’ve been through a lot of trauma, one session is usually not enough.
In rare cases, whiplash can make you spiral badly. If that happens, I ask clients to let me know immediately. Sometimes, I even take emergency sessions outside my work hours. This is rare, but I want clients to know they won’t be left hanging if something intense comes up.
7. The Client’s Role
One thing I always stress: EFT is not a passive therapy. I’m not “fixing” you, you’re an active participant. You’ll tap, talk, recall memories, and engage with the process.
My role is to guide you, help you uncover the right events, and walk with you through the release. But your role is just as important.
8. Results and Expectations
From my own experience, EFT results are incredible. But I’ll also be upfront: the results vary from person to person.
- Some people feel lighter instantly.
- Some notice changes in the following days.
- Some need multiple sessions to see steady progress.
It’s a process, and the more consistent you are, the deeper the results.

9. A Real-Life Example
For example, I once worked with someone who thought their issue was just “lack of confidence at work.” When we dug in, the root memory was being humiliated by a teacher in childhood. We tapped through it, and after just one session, they reported feeling calm and even spoke up in a meeting the very next week.
This is how EFT works. It clears the emotional charge behind your present-day struggles, often linked to old memories you didn’t even realize were holding you back.
10. Final Thoughts
So here’s what happens in a session with me:
- You fill in the detailed form.
- You make the payment and get the link.
- We meet online, and I guide you through identifying and tapping on events.
- We clear layer by layer, memory by memory.
- You feel the shift.
Sometimes it’s subtle, sometimes it’s dramatic. But it always creates movement.
Please remember: EFT is a journey, not a magic wand. One session can bring breakthrough, but real transformation usually takes consistency. Still, in my personal and professional experience, it’s one of the most powerful healing tools available today.
